Our Impact

In the Community

Having supported some vulnerable women for the last 30 years, we are so proud of the difference we have made in the community, and to the lives of women. We want to take this opportunity to share some highlights of our work over the last year.

Our Employ20 programme supported many women to improve their employability skills and progress into work experience, training and employment opportunities. We extended our employment support programme until December 2020 as we recognised that many women had been affected by unemployment and redundancy during the lockdown period.

Workplace Safespace

Another project that has recently been launched is our employer initiative: Workplace Safespace. Aimed at local employers within the London Borough of Hillingdon, we train organisations and provide them with the skills to spot domestic abuse warning signs and provide employers in the community with the tools to support their staff.

Our Volunteers

Another way we support women in the community is through our voluntary roles. Last year, we hosted over 30 volunteers and student placements who between them, contributed to 2,600 volunteer hours. Volunteers and interns are a vital part of Hillingdon Women’s Centre and we are so grateful to those who choose to spend their time with us to volunteer! We are also really proud that 10 of our volunteers have been able to secure a paid job in the community.

“I just want to say thank you so much for helping me with not only advice but also restarting my life… I’m 50 years old and thought after my 20 years of marriage from hell, my life was over… Thank you for providing a service to help women like me rebuild our lives.”
